NATURE

The Lesser Poland region belongs to the most picturesque regions in Poland. In the vicinity of Krakow, you can visit the Ojców National Park with the most dazzling forms of limestone cliffs, numerous bicycle paths, and castles scattered along the Trail of the Eagles’ Nests. In the Tarta Mountains on the Polish side of the border, tourists can enjoy numerous mountainous hiking trails of varied difficulty ratings, as well as the valleys with strolling paths. The mountains are full of glacial lakes, including Morskie Oko “Sea Eye” – probably the most beautiful one. The nature can also be admired in the centre of Krakow. The town is full of green areas and is famous for its charming public parks. One of the most popular bicycle tracks stretches along the Vistula banks from the Old Town to the Benedictine Abbey in Tyniec. The largest recreational area in Krakow is located in the Błonia Park where the town’s citizens come for walks with their dogs or do all kind of sports in all seasons of the year.

KRAKOW ONBIKE

The Krakow bicycle path stretching along the Vistula banks belongs to the most picturesque paths in Poland and is regarded as one of the most favourite weekend sport activities in the town. The path starts in the vicinity of the Old Town and passes by the Jewish Quarter in Kazimierz, the Wawel Royal Castle and Cathedral, the Błonie Park, the living quarters of Salwator and Wola Justowska, the Kościuszko Mound, the Silver Mountain (with the largest local vineyard) and the Camaldolese Hermit Monastery in Bielany, to reach finally the Benedictine Abbey in Tyniec which built in the XI century. The Abbey has recently undergone a total renovation; tourists can visit there a newly opened restaurant which serves delicacies of the Polish cuisine. The Benedictines run here a shop which sells food products produced by the monks themselves and with natural medicines. They also serve as guides to their visitors and allow them to participate in services. Please, contact us for details!

OJCOW NATIONAL PARK ONBIKE

The Ojcow National Park enjoys a nickname of the Little Switzerland. It is located one hour drive from Krakow and is famous for its amazing architecture which is typical for the Alpine regions. The main tourist trail stretches along the Prądnik river valley, among the Jurassic limestone formations. The list of must-see places include the Hercules Club, the Chapel on Water built in 1901 and the Pieskowa Skała Castle located on the Trail of Eagles’ Nests. In summer, the local mill serves tasty bread and home-made delicacies, and invites visitors to its trout fishery. Ojcow looks most attractively in autumn when the surrounding deciduous forests turn into a breathtaking palette of colours.

TATRA MOUNTAINS ON FOOTMORSKIE OKO LAKE

Poles are truly in love with their mountains! Winter sports are extremely popular in Poland, and the Tatra Mountains are the most popular tourist destination in all seasons. In these spectacular mountains with the Alpine climate, visitors can enjoy numerous hiking as well as strolling paths. One of the most popular paths (with an average difficulty rating) takes you uphill for approximately 7 kilometres along a serpentine road to Morskie Oko. Your efforts will be rewarded with a panoramic view of the lake surrounded by the mountain peaks, the view quite similar to those admired in “The Lord of the Rings”. At the end of the walk, you will reach a mountain shelter where you can regain your strength with the aid of the famous local “tea with power”. For those preferring less challenging walks, we can advise you to visit one of the Tatra valleys, e.g. Chocholowska or Koscieliska valley. Please, contact us for details!
